So, I was checking traps with my friend and mentor and this one filled the trap up pretty well.  The trap was a swim thru' that I got from BearTrap..

Nice Beaver.  Reminds me of my first beaver I ever caught in a drowning set.  Was just under 75 lbs. It was officially weighed on a certified scale at a grain elevator in Coulee City.  That beaver now resides in the Grant County Museum in Ephrata.  Been there for years.

I've seen that hog of yours in the museum Wacenturion. Good place for that speciman. I've had two beaver on the scale that went #73. I remember a beaver down at O'Sullivin resevour that was bigger but never made it to a scale.

Yeah that was along time ago.  A little history.  I trapped that Beaver in either March or April of 1974 on the east side of what is now Steamboat Rock State Park.  All the trees that are now fully grown and providing shade were just being planted that spring.  That beaver and probably another were taking them out as soon as they were planted in the ground.  Caught it on a dead set on the lodge itself just offshore out in the lake.  Between the rock, or should I say small boulder (lol) at the end of the line as an anchor, and the Beaver itself, it was nearly impossible to pull up.  First beaver I ever trapped.  Sometimes you get lucky.
