MOUNTAIN LION is good eating. Just ignore these guys! Well worth saving the meat if you get a pop at one. Good Luck!

Just make sure the unit your hunting in is open.  It is excellent, as good as any deer or elk meat.

I'd read the regs carefully about East Okanogan, as they have the hound seasons that exclude boot hunting. Steven's Pass is towards there, but I think it's still open. Still, look up the area specifically in the pamphlet.

It's very good eating meat. Very mild. It's got an excellent flavor. Not gamie at all. More like pork.

I had a similar experience when I told a LEO friend that I had "...Got a Cougar on New Year's Eve." He looked at me like, "I didn't think you were that kinda guy!" Which I'm not, and it took me a day or two to realize why he'd looked at me like that!

("Cougar" is a euphamism for an experienced woman, who is, well... "on the prowl.")

its awefully good to me. some folks are not into eating carnivores, but it makes no difference to me.

Mountain lion is pretty good, I've eaten it once and I liked it.

"Cougar" on the other hand can be very tasty, depending on hows its cared for in the field... :chuckle:

We took one to Fischer Meats in Issaquah a couple years ago and they wouldn't touch it.  Said other butchers would do the same.  Something to do with a parasite called "Trichonosis spiralis" in the muscle tissue.   We decided not to mess with it.   :dunno:
