Whitetails in the Entiat?

I may be way late to this party but has their allways been a bunch of whitails in the entiat? That cannot be good competition for the mule deer.

There is not a bunch. Just a few isolated pockets here and there!  A friend killed a decent 4 with a late Slide Ridge tag about 20 years ago, but as for how long they've been here I don't know!

There was pic's on here and/or the other site in the last year or 2 of a nice big whitey buck that was living near the highway. Maybe a 150" buck....everyone was watching him waiting for him to shed. I think he became sort of a local celebrity.

I found a pic of the buck I was talking about. I don't know about 150...but he's a good buck.

I shot one back in one of the draws that drops down into mud creek a few years back, he was running with a much bigger 4 point.  They are in there, I was suprised to see the ones that we saw too.

Saw one in 08 hanging with a Mulie buck.   However, I don't think I would be too concerned at this point. Remember, most of the mulies go way back up the mountain and most of the whities will stay low throughout the year. so the only issue would be winter feed.  As long as the numbers don't explode, the mulies should be ok.

The problem is that whitetails are more agressive when competeing to breed, and the offspring for various reasons is not viable.

I shot a whitetail buck in the Entiat that was shacked up with a muley doe in 2004.
