I Have a Ruger Single Six Convertible .22 Mag/.22 whatever. It has a 9 Inch barrel and can almost be compared to a rifle. This gun was made in 1959 and is in mint condition. I came by the piece from a friend in the Army. It was left to him by his Grandfather, along with all the components shown in the below picture. The holster is of Calvary vintage and includes the pure Brass cleaning rod shown. His wife was an anti gun nut and demanded he get the gun out of thier house. So he sold it to me for $50.00. Not a bad deal I would say. That was 28 years ago. I have only shot about 1 box of mags and 2 boxes of Long Rifle through it. Enjoy the picture. Muskrat

That's not fair to post something like that!!!  If you ever need to sell that one, PLEASE let me know.

I'm a Smith & Wesson model 41 fan.  I always shot my old High Standard and made the statement to a friend that it was probably the most accurate semi-auto ever made.  He brought his 41 over and proved me very wrong!

I've got a couple Rugers (old MKII, new MkIII, and a 22/45 with TacSol upper), and a full blown VQ.  The Smith 41 still outshoots them all with the right ammo.

You can find a few good deals on 22's in the Classified section of the Rimfire Central Forum once in awhile.  I've purchased a couple from there over the years.

Browning Buckmark, hands down, no question. I own two and would never part with either one. S&W 617 for double action revolver, and I LOVE my airweight snub. Smith 34's are great also. S&W 41 is the best, but whew $$! Ruger Bearcat single action is handier than a single six, although I might try out a Single Ten if they made em with black sights. I had a Smith 622, 422, and several other Smith's as well. I had one of them break the disconnector after many bricks. Would not really trust the 22a's however. Never had a Colt, but every one I fired was accurate and ez to handle. High Standards are also great. I agree with FC, problem waithing to happen on the Ruger automatics. Plus you can't hardly access the chamber without stripping the gun. They are overrated in my opinion. I've had two and would not buy another.

1 vote for the Browning Buckmark here. I've had mine for a couple years, it's accurate, easy to shoot

 :yeah:

I have had a standard model Buckmark since 1995 and it shoots very well.  Pretty good factory trigger in mine.

Ill second that though they are quite expensive these days 300 plus dollars at Cabelas crazy thing is I bought mine like 4 years ago for 180 dollars at Sportco when they were pretty new.  They sell a matched pair with the P22, and the P380 I own both, and would recommend looking into that.  You can practice with the P22, and pack your P380 both are of a very similar size.

Single Six for me as well.  I've had about 30 different sidearms over the past 30 years.  The only one I've ever kept more than a year or two has been the little Ruger.  I lost count at about 250 sage rats slammed by the 22 mag.  Really knocks the snot out of treed Bobbies and Rascal villains too.  It is one of my favorite things to give as a graduation gift to friends and family.

Single Six for me as well. . . . . It is one of my favorite things to give as a graduation gift to friends and family.

Sounds a little better than the fancy ink pen I got. :(  Single Six is definitely a fun gun, I've got a Browning Buckmark that's fun as well.  One I haven't seen mentioned yet, Beretta Neos, my son has one with a red dot sight and it's a blast to shoot.

okay, I see we need a pic of a single six. This single six still works like the day I bought it. I can't say to much for the rest. That gun slinger hostler as shrunk. Hatchet sheath is all worn out. Back pack is out dated. But the single six is still like new.  :chuckle:

I got one just like it except i have the colorado bi centeninal model all engraved.

Another plus for the Browning Buckmark. I love mine and have no issues with it. It will shoot anything I put in it. As for the Ruger I highly considered it until I shot one then there was no comparison with the Browning for me. I would like to shoot one of the newer Rugers to see how that compares as I bought my Browning back in 2007, but for now I love the Browning.

:) I've still got the Cross pen and pencil set from my graduation and the Bible.  I had to fillet about 1,200 fish to get the Single Six on my own ($0.25 a fish back then).

Guys, say what you want about the Ruger MkIIIs, I've got a MKIII Hunter with the 6 inch barrel and it has over 12,000 rounds through it and has never had a problem. That includes no jambs, stovepipes or failure to fire. Also no broken parts at all. It has been shot by kids as young as 8 all the way up to 80 year old men and women. did you ever think that the reason that there are more internet (problem) hits is because of all the Ruger MKIIIs that have been sold? Every model of guns made can and do have problems at one time or another, they are mechanical things made by man, that means that they are not perfect. :twocents:
