Maybe some of you have had better luck but i have found the Walther P22 to be finkie on the ammo it shoots. My brother had both barrel lengths. @.5 and 4.5? The shorter one only cycled Mini mags reliably and would not shoot bulk Rem gold.. The longer barrel would shoot the Remington s but not reliably and the barrel weight kept loosing up and he could never keep it tight. I love the fit and feel of the gun, just had problems with the function. My Bro still has the short barrel but only feeds it Mini Mags.

I want a Ruger bearcat to throw in my pocket or bag when I'm wandering. For those of you drooling over the long barreled Ruger, I feel it is necessary to tell you that they still make them.

Ok, added a Sig Mosquito, FEG AP mkII, and 6" 6 shot 617 since the last time. Traded for the Smith, bought the Sig and FEG like new. Everything but .22 is too expensive to really shoot a whole lot now. Had a chance at a 41 with the long barrel, but lot of $ for a pistol I'd be too afraid I'd scratch it to pack in the woods. Still a great thread!

Smith & wesson 22s, shoots great and have never had a problem with it. Easy to clean too, not like my brothers mkII.

Keltec PMR 30 I have one and love it. It hold 30 rounds and comes with 2 mags. I carry it for grouse and rabbit all the time. It shoots 22 mag ammo which is not bad price at 8.00 to 11.00 dollors a box at wally-world. I pick up the pistal new for 329.00 http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2010/06/30/kel-tec-pmr-30-22-magnum-video-and-review Check out the video

Bearhunter, any problems with jams? Heard the early ones had this issue. I would love to get one....

:hello: Not really I hand a couple with cheap ammo. But with CCI and good winchester ammo it worked great. I shot it a lot. I used all brands of ammo some are a lot dirtyer and same are cleaner to shoot. I did have some feeding issues, but it was very dirty. I was testing how long and how many round before jamming. 500 rounds and dirt from carrying in field. Cleaned it in camp that day and had no feeding issues after that. Love it shoots great. Just use good ammo. Hope that helps.

I've owned several.

Sig Mosquito
Walther P22
Smith Wesson 41
Ruger 22/45 MKII and MKIII
Ruger MKII
Beretta Bobcat
Beretta Neos
Sig 229 Conversion
1911 Conversion
Jiminez/Jennings
Ruger Bearcat
Ruger Single Six
PMR 30
AMT Automag
Colt Woodsman
H&R Revolver
Browning Buckmark
T/C Contender 22lr and 5mm rimfire

If I had to buy a new one...
It would be a Ruger MKIII or Ruger 22/45...with the "bolt slingshot mod" and magazine disconnect removed (mkII hammer bushing).
Second choice would be a browning buckmark. Just as accurate and reliable, but a smaller aftermarket and mags a little harder to find locally.

My "go to" is a stainless MKii with a fluted tactical solutions upper and all VQ internals. Light, accurate, reliable...and cost too much for a 22lr!

If I could only have one...
Ruger bearcat OLD MODEL! The new ones are junk.
It's basically a single six, at about 2/3 scale. Small and fun.
Theres just something about single shots and single action revolvers...its nice to slow down and relax.

Most hated
Sig Mosquito and P22. Cheaply made, picky on ammo.
Sig P series conversions...every one of 'em shoots low. Picky on ammo.
Jennings/Jiminez. Enough said. Junk.

Most interesting
Beretta Neos. Akward in my hands but kids and women always loved this one the most. Its great for small hands and lends itself well to optics. Since I enjoy taking new shooters and teaching kids the ropes, this one will stick around.
PMR 30. Kind of ugly, and even more uncomfortable than the grip on a desert eagle 44mag...huge capacity, but velocity is weak for a 22mag due to slow burning powder. A novelty, IMHO.

Yes, I'm a rimfire whore.
Awwwe heck, I'm just a gun whore...period.
I left it better than I found it...did you?

I bought a knock off of the Ruger single six.  It's a venturini imported from argerntina.  I have both cylinders, .22  and .22 mag.  Cost a hundred bucks, shoots great!

Heck for around 175 you can buy a knock off single six made in America by Heritage mfg, the rough rider....Bought one 8yrs ago for 99.95 with both cyl .22 - .22mag
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.
