Do you have to have a westside tag for elk to be able to hunt if you draw one of the six tags?  Or is the tag work for either a east side or West side  tag since they are doing their own drawing?  Any body on here draw this tag?  I know there are some nice bulls in there so just checking on how this tag works. This is my first year hunting it since way back in the day before hancock took over.  thanks for any help.

Westside tag only. And only those who purchased a Hancock Kapowsin permit are eligible.

Don't pick up your elk tag before the hancock drawing, they draw before the state's deadline and if you have a eastside elk tag and draw the hancock draw your screwed. They draw in early april ish I believe. If you do draw they call you and then you pick which weapon you want to hunt with, then go get your west side elk tag for the weapon you picked. Good luck

Special Elk Hunt

Each permit purchased before June 1st for Kapowsin Timberlands and Eatonville Forest will automatically be entered into a drawing to hunt elk during any bull elk season for GMU 654.  Six Kapowsin general public recreation pass hunters and one Eatonville general public recreation pass hunter will be drawn.  Winners will be notified by June 11th.

The Kapowsin winners may hunt on Kapowsin main block only, including Eatonville.  No recreation access is allowed on the Buckley block during any bull elk season.

The winners must specify which elk season will be hunted — modern firearm, muzzleloader or archery.  Hunters must comply with all Washington State laws and are subject to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife seasons and regulations.

This is directly off there website

Thank you everyone.  So if they draw it in June then you have to have your special draw permits for WA put in for by then already?
