And how! A little deer sausage and some red beans mmmmmmm twas tasty! Just made cornbread in the dutchoven outside in the fire bit! Yummmmmm! A little bit of peach cobbler out there too!

I agree chilli is great with corn bread. I have never cooked corn bread. What is your favorate recipes. I need to give that a go with the dutch oven.

I tell ya I like the cheap ass jiffy brand,,I put a cast iron fry pan in the oven and turn it on 425,mix the ingrediants,once the oven comes up to temp,I put 1 tbls of bacon grease in that frigging hot pan,and put the mix in it and put it back in the oven,,,UMMM Um I also like to finely dice a hot pepper and add that to the mix..

Another thing to try is to add a can of creamed corn to the mix. It makes it really good!

Are you talking about real cornbread or that sweet yellow crap that they try to pass off as cornbread around here? There is nothing like good old buttermilk cornbread with a sliced up sweet onion, fresh tomato and a slab of salt cured county ham! Mmmmmm.... I wish that I was headed beck to Alabama with my folks this week.

try adding jalopenos and chunks of cheddar cheese, its amazing. its from the dinosaur cook book. everything in that book is amazing
