They are a sub species of elk. Bigger body, smaller, usually thicker horns.

Boone and Crocket lists them west of I 5 in Washington.

Here is my dad's Margaret bull from 2000. This was the biggest bull we saw the entire time we were scouting and hunting. Saw him on opening day, but the wind and fog was too bad for a good shot. Found him the second morning on the same hillside, and dad decided to take him. It's always nice when you can slide them down the hill and into the truck whole.

Crap, asking me to recall road numbers from 8 years ago.... :chuckle: We camped on the last road driving up the highway before the highway makes the big switchback, and it wasn't too far from camp. I can't for the life of me remember the road numbers anymore.

LOL...no, no cow tag.
It is a long story, but I had a nice 6pt in my scope at 40 yards. I moved a short distance to look at another bull then moved back to my original spot. I saw the rack in the same spot and didn't take a good look. It moved a couple yards and I shot it through the lungs, it turned and I put one more at an angle and it went down. A quick count showed it to be a 5pt. The real f.u. was the 6pt stuck around and showed himself twice as we were packing mine out. I should have taken a second to make sure it was the bull I wanted, but that is not the only time that has happened to me. :yike:

:stfu: That is still a great bull Billy!  I would have dropped him without hesitation and though the 6 was there, still been happy as a pig in poop!

Nice pics! Good looking "mullet" looking hair too! :chuckle:

Here are a couple of my Roosie bulls.  I have a few more, I will post pics if my wife hasn't packed them away yet.  The biggest one is considered a "Cascade Roosevelt"  I shoved an arrow in him out of Randle so he might have some Rocky in him.  The little 2x3 blackie is thrown in for comparison.

Thanks!  Yep, all Western Wa archery.  I might have a cape thrown on the bigger one someday.  The guy who scored it for me at the Sportsman's Show politely bitched me out for not having a shoulder mount done.

Let me step out on the porch.  After I get this house done and settled I just might be hauling him over to your side of the hill for a make over.  I've got a perfect spot specially made for him in a shoulder mount.

Not really. I might have some from years ago but I hunt alone so I dont pack a camera.  Taking pics is usually the last thing on my mind, I am too busy trying to get the critter packed out before it spoils.
