i will prolly git kicked in the ribs for this, but i dont see a pressing need for buying a youth style rifle. thats a helluva lot of money for something he will outgrow. them kids dont stay small for long.  i wouldnt buy my kids a 200 dollar coat.

You do realize the 7mm-08 can be had in a full sized rifle, don't you?

Ask my son why he'd want one?

He'll tell ya why.

257yd shot  140 Partition.  One shot sent this Balcktail end over end for 300yds!!

But I guess the -08 can't kill big bodied bucks.

A week later I used the kids gun.   One shot dumped a decent 3x3 at 319yds.   But hell that's a chip shot.

Last year my buddy bought his girlfriend a 7mm-08 in a ruger, I believe it is the mountain rifle.  He didn't have time to sight it in so he asked me to sight it in for him.  Since it was only about a week before season started I grabbed my .270wsm and my 45-70 for the final groups of the year before the season started.  After I shot my rifles I shot the 7mm-08.  When I pulled the trigger for the first time I bout sh!t myself on how hard it kicked.  Thinking that it must of been just in my head I shot again, same thing.  The 7mm-08 is a kicken little *censored*.

I shot a muley at 40 yards with an 08', and the bullet only dented his fur. The deer looked over my way all pissed off and ran me over, jumping on my groin in the process, little *censored*!
