Best youth gun ever. 140 gr to 150 gr and you can hand load 162 gr. I have 5 daughters and they all have shot deer with the 7mm-08. I got them a mod. 70 winchester youth ranger. I love to shoot this gun as well. Made a 225 head shot on my buck and a 150 head shot on my extra doe. I have a 243 youth mod 70 also and my kids can't tell the differents. 308 is a good cal. but it does kick when it comes to kids.

The 7mm-08 is an excellent cartridge for youngsters! Mild on the shoulder, factory fodder readily available, good selection of bullet weights, and is very effective on game.
