opinions needed on camo job
« on: February 10, 2012, 11:45:29 AM »
Well I've been stuck around the house for the past few days waiting on the Realtor to call. So I grabbed some camo, a laundry bag and went to town on the AR. I need honest opinions on it, not trying to get my ego inflated by putting it on here. I am trying to decide if I should go back over and paint the end of the scope I left black along with the magnification ring or not.  :dunno:
The last photo is at 10 yards with 2x zoom on the camera, and some photo shop cropping to drop file size

Looks great!  Only changes I'd make, which I've done on my ARs, is a Winter Trigger Guard, and a Hogue pistol grip.  (I really hate those plastic "military" pistol grips.  Got a few I'd GIVE to anyone who wants one!)
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

don't need to finish up the black on the ends ifyou paint up some scope caps.

looks descent. I'd hit that.

my first knee jerk reaction was... " wow " kudos on the laundry bag snake skin job!  I would leave the black, I think it adds a little contrast.

Looks good.  This is a nit-picky comment, so don't get offended. The one thing that you might have done differently is to not lay the laundry bag perfectly flat.  The scales are too orderly, if that makes sense.  Maybe lay the bag over it with wrinkles and ripples so the pattern is a little more broken up.

Other than that, good job.

Frank, if you like it that's what counts.

Did the snake on my .243WSSM also, less colorful but I like it.

Pesonally I think it is a fine job and reflects your preferences...

thanks for the comments guys. I have a tendency of getting picky about things I do, and the black was bugging me as I was looking at it drying on the coffee table. My wife was saying that I was being picky on it, but hey I did it so I can be picky. So I did repaint the magnification ring, and I am thinking about the scope cover option I like that idea.

I Like it.  If it were mine i would leave the black but clean up the lines where the black and camo meet.  Looks damn nice though.  Been kicking around the idea of duracoating my AR but haven't convinced myself due to the price of the gun...
