NEED ARCHERY ELK AND BEAR HUNTING TRIP PARTNER FOR SEPT.
« on: July 16, 2012, 08:18:17 PM »
I have a good line on an elk hunt for western washington.  I plan to set camp Sept. 3rd and hunt through the 9th or 10th.  I ran into elk at bow shooting distance on 5 out of 6 scouting trips.  Here is the stupid part "I was hunting and scouting for bear".  I have a brand new 29 foot travel trailer with a separate bunk room.  I even have a spare quad someone could use (definately need it).  Beautiful and fairly dry country.  I have not seen a bear yet but have hear numerous local close encounters by berry pickers.  The old saying "Find berries and you find the bears".  I am looking for someone to share campsite and food costs.  I feel pretty confident about the elk.  I was not scouting or calling for them but kept running in to them.  I do have bugles and cow calls.  I also have an electronic predator call for bear.  I plan to hunt most the day for elk then hunt bear in the late evening.  I am bringing a chest freezer but never have killed an elk to see if it would fit.  My bear took up the whole freezer however I froze the head and pelt for a rug.  I am always legal and safe.  That said I am damn good company.  So far I have went on 2 hunts with guys I met from this site and had a great time.  Got my buddy his first deer with a bow and got a couple of coyotes with the other guy.  I really need serious inquires and someone that can offically commit the time.  I will be a great hunt camping in luxury warm bed or air conditioning if needed hot shower hot food and a beautiful area to hunt.  post or PM me.  I am sorry I am getting this out a little late since it is only a month and a half a way.

Archery elk doesn't open until September 8th, so you're talking about a bear hunting trip right? I'd be interested I'm always looking for new hunting partners, mine always flake out, but I drew a margaret bull tag this year and will be concentrating on that as much as I can.

You are welcome to join me but I if I a Margaret tag I would not waste time anywhere else.  I have crawled up on the biggest bulls I have ever seen in the Margaret Unit.  I am serious I lived in Wyoming for 2 years and there are some large bulls in that unit.  You are lucky!!!

You're right, I was looking at my special permit card that was in front of me, I was assuming it was the same start date. Makes more sense now

Ken- sounds like you need to tag along with me, I don't know the unit all that well. Lets go scout in August, kill you a bear and tie a bull up for me. Its a date.  :IBCOOL:

Send me a PM if you are interested in going.  I would like to go for the experience itself.  I only work three days a week so I usually have some weekdays off as well.  I will hunt for bear.  does anyone have any information tips on bear berries in the Margaret unit?

Hello, I am new to archery and I am looking for a partner for September 6th - 12th. I am looking at the Satsop and the Wynoochee GMUs. I have been hunting for over 10 years and switching from modern firearm to bow. I live in the Allyn -  Belfair area.
