Otters
« on: February 12, 2012, 03:25:06 PM »
I had the fortune of stumbling onto these guys today.   I had been watching for them but hadn't seen them and kind of forgot about them.   I was looking for some more duck action and was marching along when I spotted them both out on the ice.   I switched lens and moved in.  I watched one of them catch a good 20 fish.  Looked like three different species of fish.   One ate 5 or 6 then just swam with its mate, unless they were taking turns.  Not sure about that.  I spent a good hour with them and was absolutely thrilled.   I finally made them nervous and they disappeared.  I took 350 photos of them.

She came up with a trout, couple sucker fish and a pile of crappie and maybe even a bluegill.   I was amazed at how fast she could catch fish.

Very Nice, I would hate to see how fast you go thru external hard drives.

Those pics are great! The last time that I watched some was at Sekiu. They were sneaking up onto a boat dock and into some guy's boat. They would emerge from his boat with fish bait. (herring) I imagined that when he went to go back out fishing that he probably wondered where his bait went.

Those are amazing critters. They seem to play and have fun just like kids.
