Try not to shoot any sage grouse or holes in the big propellars, one will get you into more trouble than the other.

Haven't hunted it so I guess your best bet will be boot leather but....I suspect chukar will be mostly on the breaks above the river, (also can check out the canyon).   Quail are mostly in civilization and I don't think there are pheasant anymore. :chuckle:

Benbo there are chukar and huns back in behind the wind farm and probably quail too. You can access the quilomene area by going through the wind farm. Usually a lot of guys go in and camp during the opener for chukar that weekend. Lot of area and once there is snow on the ground the birds could be anywhere. When it is hot you will find them around water. Might be great to spend a few weekends back there this summer and find where water holes are.

Mostly chukar hunting and some quail. I wouldn't worry about any sage grouse out there.

There are a few chukar in there.  I live in Cle Elum and head there regularly.  I'll take you back there if you are interested.

They don't plan it very well. It gets over hunted. It has absolutely horrible cover for the pheasant.

You will be better off making the drive to grant county or hunting quail. Quail are abundant around Ellensburg.

There is a permit to hunt the wind farm if you want to. There are some chukar up behind it but there are several dog trainers that use that area so your dog had better be good because the birds jump early.

You have to have a permit now to hunt the wind farm?

The wind farm requires a "permit" but you just have to watch the video at the observation center. They want to make sure you don't shoot the windmills.

Still quite a bit of Chukars in the area. However, you will have to burn some leather. Chukar hunting can be a tough hunt. Good luck.
