I'm not sure about being bigger there, but yeah some big ones around. A buddy told me of one shot last deer season that I think he said was 425#. A lot of the land around Forks is Rayonier and he used to run dogs there and killed tons of bears, but now only the contract guys can. The older clearcuts have lots of blackberries out there in late summer. Eventhough it is rainforest, in early Sep it can be dry and crunchy. For the higher bear populations, the closer you get to the Quinault it seems they get higher. Sol Duc has high bear pop, but I think the bios said the Quinault has something like 13-14 per sq mile--I could've heard wrong, but that is the number I remember.
