I have never hunted with a 338; Jim, do you hunt with yours, and if you  how often does a animal hit by one of those massive rounds get back up?

Ask this guy how an animal reacts to one of those massive rounds   :chuckle:
They don't get up from what I've heard

Heres my Rbros .338 edge in its element! And, not to start a pissing match, will, on a good day nudge 4" at 1000. They just shoot that good!

Sweet looking rifles and cool groups you guys are shooting.  :) . I see some guys shooting the 338 lapua and other guys 338 edge is there much difference between the two? Maybe some day own one  after the kids are out of the house.

With the same barrel make and length, there isn't any real performance difference.
If I were to have another one built, it would still be a 338Lapua even though Travis and Jesse both shoot the 338 Edge and their rifles will shoot almost as good as mine...

Sorry Jim....hate to disagree.  Our Edges shoot faster and better if the nut behind them is good that day.  They are 2 rifles that will never leave our hands.  Both have shot 3" groups at 1k multiple times, and a couple 14" groups at 2K.  No way they will ever have new owners!

In the same length barrels, the Edge will outrun the Lapua.  More case capacity.  In a 26" barrel, the Lapua and 338 RUM will be almost the same.  In 30" barrels, the Edge will run 75-100fps faster than the Lapua.

Just giving you sh!t about my rifle out shooting yours.
I will still say that the 338L can stay with the 338E as the L is set up to run higher pressure than the RUM cases among other things.

Shawn did come out with a new design.  It allows use of more powder, thus more velocity.  He is getting 3020ish in a 32" barrel.  I went up a grain with mine today and hit 2990 with a 31" barrel and no pressure.  We were running faster than his standard version though.  Using his standard load, our rifles and all the ones I have built run 2880-2900 vs 2820 that Shawn gets.  My normal load is 2950 with the 300 gr Berger.  It shoots 1/4 moa, and the extra 50fps doesn't gain much.

Color me super impressed.  Those 600 yd groups look like my 100 yd groups, from a led sled, with no wind, on a nice 68 degree sunny day, while completely sober, with my Savage.
