Why dont you get the landowners information and contact him directly??

Ya, but I could tell it was not going to be an option and have not been given anything.  I would even let my friend give the land owner my phone # but wasn't asked.  I was being left in the dark either way and now trying to do some homework.  So just seeing if someone knows why or have they had this happen to them under the same circumstances?  I have hunted fair amount of private land over the years and never had this happen?  Far as I am concerned I got the proper permission and respected the land 100%.  No trash, off roading, and left it the way it was is the only obligation I have known.  If I feel I don't get a good answer I will call the state with in the week and ask do land owners need this info. I still thank everone for reading and comments!  I do feel that this id# is the SSN of the hunting world.

If I had that much of a disconnect between myself and the landowner's property I was hunting on, I don't think I would be there in the first place.

Man you gotta grow a pair of balls,.  Contact the landowner and ask him what he wants its for.  Your really turning something small into a huge deal. Its a WILD ID # for christ's sake.   Sorry but people like you that treat landowners as you do is half the reason more and more land is being taken away.

  Call your "friend" and ask why. After that give him your wild id # and hope he takes you to hunt the private land he has access to again. People are extremely paranoid these days and sometimes rightfully so, this however is not one of those times. Every time you use a credit card someone has your credit card number, your bank account number is printed directly on your checks with the routing information. There are a lot of numbers in this world that can be abused if they fall into the wrong hands and you give strangers those numbers every day without thinking twice: your hung up on your wild ID#?

sometimes my favorite hunting spot doesnt always produce,any land could be good at sometime.Im thinking I would keep all doors open if possible..I would give it to him and thank him again for the oppritunity

Why not ask your friend or the Land Ownder what he needs it for.

I don't think you have to be that worried about your Wild ID #.  Isn't the WILD ID listed on the Vehicle use permit that anyone could walk up to your truck and see the #?

Someone could look up your application history and see what secret permits you've been applying for!   

Of course they'd also have to know your last name and your date of birth.

I just looked and it is NOT on vehicle use permit.  Just a place to write plate number. 

With a SSN required to get a wild id # is still a red flag for me to keep it secured as much as possible.

I have not been asked again so far for my number.  Can't always get the cheese the first time you ask without reason or given no other options to help out, so must not be important and don't expect much in the future any ways.  I know my friend would tell me to go get bleep'en bleep'ed if my land owner friend asked me for his numbers.  That is what has me irritated, what is not OK for them is still OK for me.

Does seem very odd that they have simply not said here is what I need and here is why I need it.
