Blackmouth....8-1, 8-2

Thinking of hitting Hat and the racetrack Saturday morning. Tides are mellow, boat needs a little time on the water, I need a little time on the water.....what say you? Anyone been out? Any bait? Fish?

Been too damn cold to go fishin. I need a cabin cruiser before I go out this time of year. Check the Salmon U. site and see how it's been up there. I was in there this morning but can't remember what the report was for up there. Good luck.

Yep.. I go to Salmon U on a weekly basis. I've got full canvas so pretty comfy when you are not setting gear. I'm only thinking of being out for a few hours. Salmon U says pretty much spotty or no report. Hat and the racetrack is a quick easy run from Everett and usually good for at least a few shakers.

Race track hasnt been too hot. Seems like bait(green label herring), is what they are hitting on. Tryed spoons(coho killers), and wasnt doing any good at all!
Try drift/motor mooching, Hit coves where the 60-90' get shallow quick. They love to run bait up, then others are in the kelp attacking bait that swim by. Bait is always arount N Hat!
Seems like mooching is a dying art of fishing, but very effective for Blackmouth!!!
I might be out Friday, Good Luck!

Need some ballast to balance out your boat??

I was stationed at Point No Point for 4 years back in the mid 70's. Mooching is all we did there and we knocked 'em dead. Mooching is all I do at the Point with my old 8 1/2' Wright McGill and my stainless Winona reel, the only way t'go. Not nearly as good as the 70's but then nothing is. I'll fish it a little bit during the summer but now I'm hooked on Willapa Bay.
