Sorry to hear about your accident, having helped out on a disabled hunt a few questions for you first. Where are you currently located? Next can you travel well or does your condition require special home care to where you cannot be away from home? Are you able to ride on at ATV or side-by-side, or are you limited to shooting from a vehicle? Do you own or have acce*censored* to a specialized chair for offroad access or a customized AVT that allows you to operate it and shoot from it? Lastly have you contacted Doloris at WDFW about opportunities for disabled hunters or access to timber company gate keys (westside mainly)? Would love to help you out and there a few special permits for deer and elk that I could reccomend.
Dang.... I helped on a disabled hunt in Eburg that past year for muzzleloader. What weapon do you prefer to use? All the disabled permits for deer are antlerless, but I know I could put you on a doe in 254 (St. Andrews) for both muzzleloader and modern rifle. For the elk permits there are some great hunts to draw, and a few good ones in your area, you just might need a few more points.
Yes, with a disabled tag you can apply and get your permit to use a crossbow during the general archery season. You might also look into a crossbow as GMU 334 (Ellensburg) is firearm restricted during modern rifle seasons, therefore limiting you to handgun, shotgun, muzzleloader, bow, or crossbow. I would highly suggest calling Doloris at WDFW, she is incharge of the hunters with disablities program and can help you out with paperwork and issue special tags I believe. You can also get permits to drive into DNR lands that are usually walk-in only. If I can swing it next year let me know if you are looking to get out for the general season, I have a few areas around Ellensburg that have produced and some private landowners that are very cooperative.
I think her office # is 360-902-2464 or 360-902-2349, but thats just the # listed in the regs. Anyways give them a call and ask for her, they will direct you to the right place. As for the landowners check your inbox, not putting those out for everyone to see!
