Power Belts are my favorite.... Have killed everything I've shot with them.... On bear and elk I always find them on the opposite side of the hide.... Deer usually blow through....

It all depends on who you talk to :chuckle: I really like the barnes bullets and the dead center bullets. Since the switch I went to the barnes and they have done well for me. I have killed a lot of critters with the dead centers as well. Never had any luck with power belts. They pankcake a little to much for me on the more solid bone.

You ask ten guys this questin, you'll likely get 10 different answers.  Unfortunately, there's no shortcut to go going out and firing off a few different rounds to see what your gun likes.  One gun might be tack driver with 300gr Hornady SST's but not be able to produce a group smaller than 10" with a different 300 gr bullet.  I'm not saying don't take the advice given here, as it can be very valuable.  Just make sure you take the time to test your gun and find the load the works best. :twocents:

Not much difference when you put them in the right spot.

I like the Barnes Expander MZ's best for my .54.  I have not tried the Bloodline yet.

Gotta remember Power Belts aren't only restricted to the plain jane lead anymore.... They make some very good bullets if you can afford them.... I've tried some of the newer ones and was very impressed.... Can't recall what they were but they were crome/silver colored.... With a blue skirt.. Seemed like they would take dangerous game imo... A friend had them.... But just last year I moved up to the Areo Tip Copper Coated.... The spike bull and BT doe I kill with one shot each never knew the difference from the standard lead hollow points.... Which I killed a bunch of critters with...... Including a 900# bull elk... Shot threw the right front shoulder quartering toward me on a dead run @ 52 yards... 295 grains of pure lead shattered right on threw his shoulder bone, lung, heart (which was a pile of mush), other lung, found bullet on off side hide... These last four critters I've shot with the copper coated ones have exited on both deer..... (so did the all lead ones) And both elk they were just on the off side of the hide..... I once shot a cow elk looking right me me in the center dump.... (what I call the center of the chest, heart shot) 102 yards.... Standard lead hollow point.... Dropped her.... Pulled the bullet out of her hindquarter.... A lot of people hate these bullets.... I hate CVA period!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only thing I'll ever buy with that name on it..... I really dislike sabots..... I think at heart I'm a more traditional ML type..... Plus my gun tack drives these... But I can't put my X-150 down.... That damn Hawkin is so fing heavy!!!!  So you should just buy 4 or 5 different kinds of bullets and see what groups best as well as what kind of shots you'll be taking on game/as well as what kind of game... And how you like loading it.... One sabot I really liked.... Way too hard to load in my barrel.... Wasted $27 on 20 rounds... I shot 2....
