Duck boat camo?
« on: March 21, 2012, 08:35:47 PM »
I have a 12 foot duro boat and a 7.5 Honda on the back of it that i plan to use for getting to duck blinds on the west side next year. The only problem is that the boat is painted a really bright yellow. I am wondering if i need to paint it camo or if i can just get away with throwing a camo tarp or something like that over it?

Tarps, burlap, sheets are a pain in the butt.  Your best bet will be to paint it.  It's kind of fun getting to be creative.  Don't forget the floor as ducks in the air will see more of that than anything else.

Any issue with painting the boat?  You could flip burlap or camo netting over the boat to camo it, but painting a 12' boat is quick and a lot easier concealment wise.
Cut em!

I would paint it!
I have a 12' row boat that is bright aluminum in color, we have tried draping camo netting over it, which worked okay as long as we weren't hunting out of the boat,  we would hide it on the shore and cover it with netting/grass.

We tried hunting out of the boat sitting on top of the netting but it was a pain, and not to mentioned the netting caught on everything, ended up dragging all kinds of branches and grass which in turn pulled the netting off the boat exposing the bright aluminum.

Last year I built a frame with a roof that covered 1/2 the boat and zip tied the netting to the frame, we had greenheads and sprigs landing in our dekes 30yds from the boat.
