Went for $16,000.

I think that was my guess. Was it who we thought it would be?

16k? I think thats a good amount of money. Like mentioned, you can get a hell of a good guided hunt in Alaska or Yukon for that, and probably throw in a couple other animals too (caribou, wolf, wolverine...etc.) Personally, I'd rather have the WA tag than the guided AK hunt, but there are some that would go the other way for sure. Having the whole season to kill a WA shiras would be

If this economy ever turns around before wolves impact our moose too heavily, we will see 20,000+ for this tag, there are some reallly good moose in the NE.

I'm an average hunter and I'd love to have it.

With wolves hitting UT, WY, MT, and ID moose pretty hard, WA currrently has some of the best Shiras moose hunting left.  When you consider that the governor's elk tag can easily go for $50K, $20K to have a shot at a record book moose is a pretty good bargain.

It was well under 20 and you should get a shot at a book bull for sure.

A book bull should be no problem with just about any moose tag if you possess a little self control and put some effort into it.    Its probably the easiest book animal to get in this state.   That being said, there are some real giants out there as well.

I would take that tag anyday. Not sure I would be able to do the tag justice. No way I would be able to spend the time in the field to make it worth it. I would take the moose tag over the sheep tag. Plus it's cheeper.  :chuckle:

Good luck to whoever bought it.

You can but a land owner tag in CO for a lot less than what our tag goes for.  CO has bigger moose than we do to.
