Sig Sauer Scorpion "Perfection"
« on: February 21, 2012, 12:53:45 PM »
Got a chance to get out and run 300 Rounds or so through my new Sig Scorpion. It was a complete pleasure to say the least. Other than a factory Springfield Champion, that would give it a run for its money in the accuracy department. It is one of the most accurate 1911's I own or have owned, built like a tank and tight doesn't even describe the quality control in tolerances on it. Ran like a cheap hooker, took everything I fed it like a champ, flawless.

In the looks department that is a definite winner, sounds like it shoots just as well.

Tough to beat a Sig, they really are fantastic.

Seams to be the only complaint to the civilian market, most of the military forums say the handgun was manufactured with " Operators" in mind and when they were doing development the flat trigger worked with tactical gloves on and the solid clean sides of the trigger reduced any foreign material from obstructing the trigger and it's function.

I got my Scorpion yesterday, I am in the search for a tactical holster, my 1911 holster that I have won't fit.  Do you have a recommendation??

I have both Raven and Kaluban Kydex, I feel the Raven is slightly better when it comes to fit and finish. When it comes to use and carry, they are identical in performance. Raven takes up to 6 months plus from the time you order to deliver. Where as the custom Kaluban " Cloak " holster and mag holder pictured bellow, were delivered within 20 days or so from the time of order.

I had mine fitted for a SureFire X300, with -0- cant.

They make them in several colors, here's a set ( Kaluban ) for my XDM 5.25 .45. In Haze Grey.

The Kalubans are almost identical to the Ravens, here is a Raven for comparison.

Awesome!!!  Very cool pics!!!  Love the tan colored holster.  I called Sig and they told me to call G-Code Holsters.   I ordered one from them but it will take few months to get it. Thanks for posting this and your recommendations.  Hope I can find something cheap until I get my G-Code.  Thanks again!!!

There's better, more long lasting gloves for cheaper money than those bigger. Nomex ain't cheap.

Scorpion twins now, only difference is ones wearing a X300 and the other a X400. The one with the X300 has 4000 plus rounds on it and the other barely 500. NEVER had a malfunction yet and I didn't clean the first scorpion until right at or little after 2000 rounds. That's only because a inch back from the muzzle was completely black and the out side of the hangun was covered in powder residue. Your hands would turn black just handling it.

Get them while you can, the price on them has gone up almost 200.00 since I purchased my first one. I figured when they first came out, that they would probably follow the same trend as the Springfield TRP "Operators". Interductory price and then pow! 1,200-1,600 bucks within a couple years. The TRP is a excellent .45. The Sig has the exact same package but tighter tolerances and of course the "Arguable" external extractor, which I am by far not a 1911 " Purist" so it makes no difference to me. I have ran external extractor handguns HARD and never had one fail yet.

I put 250 rounds on the bottom Scorpion Yesterday, ran it almost non stop. Stopped long enough top top off 10 mags and ran it again. It was SMOKING HOT! Ran perfect and kept stacking them in there. It was so darn hot I was afraid to chamber a round and let it sit before it cooled off.   It was great, Smoking handgun, burnt powder in eyes and nose. Fun stuff!!!!

:) For the second time in my life I am interested in a Sig, the first time was a disaster and almost made me ignore Sig forever. I bought  2 40 cals. and hated them both. I am going to look at a Sig 1911, but it will not be a Scorpian, I hate the colors. A stainless one might work tho!!! How do you like the extractor?

The extractor works great, launches them out fairly consistently at about 4 O'clock. I was at the local gunshop the other day and they got a stainless Sig 1911 in, which is a carbon copy of the Scorpion but in stainless. Night sites, ambi-safety, beveled mag well, rail the works, very nice handgun. Here's a picture I took of it. Price tag was 869.00... Great deal, I had to talk myself out of it.

Sorry, it was a quick cell phone pic in crappy light. :(
