Looking for a short scope
« on: February 15, 2012, 01:47:17 AM »
Ok so I just built an AR15 with the intention of some coyote hunting, and would like to get a scope for it. Unfortunately, all the scopes that I'm finding less than ~10" long are crappy scopes :bash: The best I've been able to find has been a Barska. Do any decent manufacturers make a compact variable power scope?

I've got a great scope I'll make you a heck of a deal on.  I bought a few of these a while back for a couple of short action Remingtons and wound up getting rid of one of the rifles which left me with an extra one of these and it is to short to fit any of my other rifles without going to an extended ring and flipping it around.  It is a Pentax Lightseeker which is Pentax best scope.  Made in the USA.  Here is a link to the scope.

This was mounted for a short period of time.  I don't believe that there are any ring marks or any other marks.  I still have the box and paperwork.  It has the same recticle as the Leupold LR scopes.  They run anywhere from about $299.00 - 359.00 dollars.  I would take 150.00 shipped.  Thanks
It is 3-9x32.

That's an awesome deal! Couple questions for ya about it. You mention you would have had issues mounting it... is that just due to how other rifles are drilled and tapped for scopes? Would I have any issues putting it on my AR? Secondly, what's the opinion on the reticle? Does it work? Thank you so much for your offer!

I mainly use long action rifles.  25-06, 270, 30-06 etc.  The bases and rings are just spaced to far apart to fit this scope right. On an AR this should be ideal.  The recticle does work.  You just have to shoot whatever load you settle on at different yardages to see where the ballistic lines line up at.

I just checked the paperwork I got with the scopes and they have a  chart that shows some of the more popular cartidges and where they shoot with the ballistic lines.

I've got a Pentax scope on my AR, it's the Pioneer. It works fine for coyotes. I bought mine from www.eabco.com for $199.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............
