Our first mule deer shot with a muzzleloader last season

My buddys deer took 5 hour to get it out of the canyon. His was shot at 200+ yards.  As we loaded him in the truck and drove down the mountain. There was a clear cut just a coulpe hundred yard down. I saw same deer move to my left. 3 doe and a 2x3 muley. *censored* I jumped out and ran into the clear cut. Then I saw a 3x3 with eye gaurds and 2 extra kickers standing broadside looking at me. I capped my muzzle and mounted the rifle. "*censored*" He moved and the only shot i had was the neck. I aimed cross my fingers and fired.........SMOKE>>>>>>>>SMOKE........... SMOKE........ as it cleared i could see legs in the air. He was down.  THE END

You might not count the eye guards but i do. The kickers are hard to see.  look at the base of the antlers on the back side by the ear.  Both sides have 3" kickers. If I counted the kicks it would be a 5x5.  Hell I count all point.  The state says 2x2 with eye guards 1" or more is legal. That makes it a 3x3. I wish all hunter called 2x2 with eye gaurds 2x2's and not 3x3's. Then it would make more deer for my buddys and I to fill are tag.

I FIXED IT FOR YOU GUYS. 3x3 with eye guards and two hard to see 3" kickers. Is that better?

im right there with you bear hunter if its over an inch i count it. theres very few of us that call it like it is on here but im glad im not the only one lol. and everyone reading this we dont do it to make em sound bigger its just how we were raised. same goes for you guys and not counting them. lets agree to disagree lol nice bucks none the less

Congrats, there is always a battle over eye guards and small points. Don't let them get to you, some people forget the definition of a LEGAL point

I always count the kickers/eyeguards if they are legal length.

Nice set of deer!  side note I was brought up to count one side if there are even.. a 4x4 is a 4 point and a 4x3 is still a 4x3 on the east coast a 4x4 is an 8 point...cheaters! jk
