Our first mule deer shot with a muzzleloader last season

actually you all need to read your hunting regs on the muzzle loader equipment requirements.. the cap must be exposed to the weather at all times... those enclose the cap thus not legal for washington state. Like I said.. not trying to start a fight just trying to keep people from getting in trouble.

Tell you what I am not sure if you are/were saying the Knight Big Horn is not legal in Washington or not but, the Knight Big Horn is a totally exposed breech area... the cap can be seen when the hunting with the gun.

Even the Knight DISC Extreme with a Western Kit installed qualifies for all three Pacific Northwest states.

  Sabotloader is right the Big horn is Very open the the weather. I use musket caps not 209's. Western state legal nothing wraps around the caps. So how is it not legal? I read the Reg's ever year. The rifle is washington legal. If it is not then you better call the GAME DEPT and report me to get your 10pt's for special permitts.

I just bought one and its legal.  I think there is a lot of jealous people hating on you bear hunter.  I would be happy with either of those bucks!

As long as the 209 breech has been swapped out for the #11 or musket.

This is word for word out of the 2011 regs:

ignition is to be wheel lock, matchlock, flintlock, or percussion using ORIGINAL (my emphasis) style percussion caps that fit on the NIPPLE(me) and are exposed to the weather. "Exposed to the weather" means the percussion cap or the frizzen must be VISIBLE(me) and not capable of being enclosed by an integral part of the weapon proper. Primers designed to be used in MODERN(me) cartridges are not legal.

Thus 209 primers are not legal, nor are DISCS while hunting during the muzzleloader season. You are allowed to use the 209, DISCS, scopes or double barrels when you are hunting during the MODERN season.

The old style flintlock caps and no: 11's are whats legal during muzzleloader season.

Hopes this clears things up for all y'all

not trying to hate... wow people have some big heads... I was just making sure. From what I've seen on the knight websites and stuff they don't appear to be legal. I can be wrong not a big deal. They are nice bucks. wasn't trying to take from that.. just trying to make sure one of the fellow members of this forum doesn't get in trouble.

I don't hate you I was just  my head. I do know the picture your talking about. I looked at it. The picture shows the Knight big horn with the red 209 cup in it. You have to tell them at the time you order it.  You want the western kit. It comes with a new breach plug and #11 and musket nipples. Same as the Tk2000 12g shotgun. Not A HATER JUST A er

Well before you opened your mouth maybe you should have checked to see if the bighorn is legal.  It is very legal in this state.  Can't you just congratulate these guys on a couple of nice bucks. great job on a couple of nice bucks!!!

Thanks!!!! We used the 150 grains followed with a 250gr yellow tipped sabot. I might try some x-barnes bullets next year.
