Can I shoot 7mm out of a .280?

I won a Remington .280 at the RMEF banquet. Can I shoot 7mm in it?

7mm what? The 280 used to be called the 7mm Express, but now it's the 280. The only ammo you can buy for it will be labeled 280 Remington. Definitely not 7mm Remington Magnum if that's what you're thinking of. It wouldn't even fit in the chamber.

Same bullets though.
Different cases...

Thanks BC, I didn't think so. One of the guys at the banquet said they're the same gun.

7mm-08, 280, 7mm WBY, 7mm rem mag, 7mm ultra mag, all shoot .284 cal bullets. Like said above the cases are very different, same bullets.

It's a cool gun. Camo synthetic with blued barrel. I go to pick it up at 10.

Offspring of 30-06.  Good lineage.
