Well, that took all of about 15 minutes. Thanks CPL. It's a nice piece. Wholesale didn't have a cleaning kit for it, which surprised me.

Very Nice cartridge.

Factory load wise it will kill anything in the 30.06 308 .270 range but a bit flatter trajectory than the 30 cals.  If you reload you have a ton of bullet choices in .284.

I don't reload and just got a look at cartridge prices, ugh. I'm surprised that a cartridge with a smaller projectile than a .30-06 costs about 50% more.

might be 50% better...  :stirthepot:

It's kind of an eccentrics cartridge, something you would commonly find in a rifle looney's collection. Not super well known, but definatly no longer in the wild cat section.  You might say it is a .270 with heavier bullet choices, or a 30.06 with better ballistic coefficients.

That's cool. another $5 savings per box, unless shipping makes a difference. Thanks addicted.

I like the 280 but it's definitely better if you're a reloader. I had considered getting a 280 in the past, but went with the 270 instead, mostly because I like having the option of buying a cheap box of ammo if I want to, even though I do reload.

270, 280, 30-06.... they're all the same really. What one will do, so will the other.

I'm still deciding if I'll keep it, BC. If I do, I need a new scope and I'd want a good one. Can't afford that now. It sure doesn't suck to win a nice gun, though.

i'll give you $100 for it.  :chuckle:

No one says you have to put a scope on it right away. take your time and save up for something nice.
