Anybody own one?

Thoughts?

Currently own two.  Won some of these at DU banquets over the last few years.  Sold another one to friend who has hunted it for a couple years.  I have not hunted mine personally because I already have my daily hunters.  The one my friend hunts has worked fine for him.  He likes it because it's resists corrosion pretty well.  They have an 870 action for the most part.  It's just carbon fiber wrapped.  They are a bit thick feeling kind of like a Benelli to me.

Buddy of mine has one he hasn't cleaned in ten plus years and still works fine. He's an avid bird hunter. Me and a couple other buddies have them and are very happy. My one friend had his start to fall apart after many years of hunting, shooting clays but that will happen to things when you use them that much. I also have a benelli and I like them equally but the 870 has been proven over and over again and costs less. I know gun shops push them as a lessor gun but from my experience I believe it to be the best for the price and would probably either buy the 870 or I think it's the new 887? (armor coated) if I we're to buy another pump shotgun.

The 887 action is not nearly as smooth as a 870 action. There earlier attempts were trash (3 years ago) but the newer 887's are ok. The 887 has only been out for about 4 yrs. They are still a very unsmooth action at first but after a good cleaning and a polishing with some green scotchbrite there a good gun. I personally think there very ugly, if I were to choose I would spend the extra 75 and get a nova.

Don't want to argue with you ducklab but even Remington says the action on the 887 was based off the 870.  You take them apart and they are basically the same action.  Here's a link to the Remington site that says that.  It's the first thing mentioned in their Key Features.

Personally big and bulky fits me better. My dad has a benelli black eagle and I feel like its too small. I like the bigger berettas better for feel. Just my opinion.

NThe gun is definitely big and bulky feeling, but thats ok with me. I'm kind of a big guy and most XL sized gloves could stand to be a little bigger to fit me well. The bulk of it doesn't bother me. Action feels pretty darn smooth, a lot smoother than my clunker Mossberg 835. I think I'll like it just fine assuming it goes bang when I pull the trigger.

Goldeneye, that site says "based on" and "similar to" it does not say it is the 870 but otherwise I have never handled one. I know I like the 870 Wingmaster far more than the Nova.
