How much are you looking to spend???? You could go crazy with this.... I got a Cannon from walmart for $360 when they went on sale... It was normally $439.... It takes great pics imo and not too bulky either....

I just got into this hobby... I looked on craiglist here and found several cameras to get started in this. I bought a Canon DSLR 30D with the kit lens for $300 and is in great condition. Then you can go from there and buying lens for it

I would stick to a pre owned DSLR. I prefer Canon but Nikon makes excellent gear as well. If you go Canon, I would stay with the xxD series cameras as apposed to the smaller Rebel series, the xxD are more durable.

You can find the 20D, 30D and 40D between $250-$500 on CL, either of these would be a great way to get started. Put the money into quality glass, also good deals on CL.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!
