Idk about deer, but Elk start growing as soon as they drop.  I believe its like 4 to 6 inches a day.  I'll be shed hunting and see bulls with both velvet eyeguards standing next to bulls that havent dropped yet, in late April.
I thought i read somewhere it could be like 2 inches a day, and that was really healthy ones. :dunno:
Elk are 4 to 6 a day and deer are around 1 to 2 a day

I just did a search also, most of what came up said 1-2 inches a day, for elk.

I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. But I just seen a buck with 2" velvet nubs.  :yike:
It sure is possible.  It is going to be March.  From what I have read about antler growth it depends mostly on the bucks condition.  I still have a 3 point with last years growth and have seen the young ones still carring then in early April here.  I keep my camera out year round just to watch what happens with the antlers.  I usually start seeing new growth in mid to late April.

The earliest I had ever seen new growth was the end of march. Out by westport while heading to the jetty. We seen 2 bucks with new growth, then seen them again around the end of April and one was a big 3x3 already
