Good Evening:
I Just sent out the email notifying the winner. When I get confirmation  from them I'll post their name.
I would like to tell all the applicants ( there were allot of them ) how much I appreciated reading your emails. I wish time and circumstance would permit me too take all of you hunting but unfortunately only one winner was selected. I wish the rest of you the best of luck this youth turkey season and hope that next year we can do this again.

Thank You

Jeff

Well:
I just got off the phone with Jake from Snohomish Wa. He was selected by committee from the entries and we are super excited to hopefull get him his first gobbler. The one thing that really impressed us about Jake is that he volunteers his time to work for his local NWTF chapter.  Without volunteers like him allot of organizations like NWTF would not exist. Our committee unanimously agreed that Jake's efforts should be rewarded. Now its up to me to put in some hard work and help Jake whack a nice tom. See ya soon Jake, Thanks for your volunteer work and Congratulations.

Jeff

Update from the field. Had a close encounter with a nice tom at 6:30 on the opener but couldn't seal the deal. Missed a big tom at 22 yards last nite. Had a Jake come in at 6:30 this morning and we decided to hold out for his big brother. Birds are being very tight lipped but were still at it and hoping for the best.

Well..... we hunted hard for two days and try as we might we just couldn't fill a tag. In some circles we would call this a unsuccessfully hunt but meeting new friends spending quality time in the turkey woods and having chances at some trophy longbeards sounds like success to me.
It was a pleasure meeting Jake and his parents. Were fortunate to have a site where you can meet great folks and share our love of the outdoors and our passion for the game that we pursue. It's times like this weekend that makes filling a tag that much more special.
Thanks Jake Mike and Julie

Awesome, it is cool that you do this for our youth today!!  Thanks for the great inspiration!!!  Get those kids out of those chairs and out into the wilderness!!!!
Lord , we've been here on days before
and often times you've let me score
Now do you think that on this day
you could send a gobbler down my way?
And , if not , just let me say--
you've given me another day
to hunt the bird I love the best.
I don't mind sharing with the rest

It was a great trip over to Dayton to meet Jeff and Angie - they are so kind and showed us some amazing hospitality (ahem, Pear Pie!!!) and two days of great hunting! Jake was disappointed about missing the big Tom and then passing on a Jake to wait for the big Tom but he never showed again...but you should have seen his face when we got to take home a Pear Pie!

Jeff and Angie - Thanks for the experience and for all you do to support our hunting heritage with kids!

Julie:
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you all enjoyed your trip over. I think that sometimes I get more out of hosting this youth hunt then the kids do. I hope to continue this contest for many years and although we don't always get a bird we always manage to have opportunities. Part of being a seasoned sportsman is being able to press on despite missed opportunities and blown set ups. The real prize is the chance to pursue game and the memories that days in the field make. Good Luck of your trip up north and your welcome back anytime.
