Road quality in Huckleberry Range
« on: July 27, 2008, 11:13:42 AM »
I am planning to drive up to do some scouting in the Huckleberry Range and am wondering if the roads are really rough. I might take our all wheel drive Nissan Murano instead of the F-150 for this scouting trip if the roads are not too bad. It is much more pleasant to drive and gets much better gas mileage. Thanks, Brian.

Depends, you could be on somewhat decent dirt roads and turn into nasty roads, kinda a question I cant anwser, I guess it would be a question you will have to ask yourself, Do I go any farther?

Depends on the roads.  Some start out really nice then all of the sudden they suck and by then you are committed.

I hear you guys. I am going to take my truck. I just hope it does not leave me stranded with some malfunction. Brian.

I am mighty glad I took my truck. The roads were pretty bad. Lots of rocks in some spots. Deep dust in others. Narrow with lots of brush scraping the sides too. Brian.

My wife still talks about the scratches in my truck from "your brothers moose hunt".  How did the trip go?

When the branches start scraping, just turn the music up inside so you can't hear it.....    :'(

I've been trying to talk my wife into letting me trade in my commuter car for a Suzuki Samarai....

Samurai's make great tow behind hunting rigs, but actually driving them to and from the hunting spots there just a death box. I have one. Im trading it off foor a 90 Toyota four runner. If you keep it stock it should drive fine. But if you plan on doing a spring over and 31's or 33's make sure you spend the money and go with a crossover steering setup and modify the sway bars otherwise they are all over the road.

FANATIC has one we'll be dragging along for our elk hunt. it rides nice on 32's...pretty sure it has the crossover steering and stuff...only problem with it is i can hardly fit inside of it.
