Got my Canvasback back from the Taxi.
« on: March 01, 2012, 05:09:51 PM »
I dropped off my canny with Old Heritage Taxidermy in the Wenas on February 1st. He told me that it would be a few months before the mount was done. Well, yesterday Thomas called me up and said that the bird was ready to pick up. 30 Day turn around is spectacular!

Cost was $216.40 out the door.

my next mount:

I felt like he did a nice job. I actually left him with 2 birds so that he could do a repair job on anything that was too shot up. The taxidermist ended up using some wing feathers off of the spare bird and did a good repair job.

This was my first mount ever. I was glad that I went with someone who was fairly local and his prices were great. I am very pleased and with this mount and I hope that it will be hung with pride for many years to come.

Something about the eye on the canvasback mount??  But the dog turned out great.  Very realistic!   :chuckle:

I have to agree with the above statement. Maybe put it on the wall and give us a different view.

How is the eye supposed to look? just curious, color seems fine and realistic

If the bird doesn't please my hunt-wa family, then its not going on any walls. Maybe I'll just let my dog chew on it.

1st mount! You just broke the ice.  :bash:

Nice springer, they are some of the best retriever breeds around and mine did not quit for nothing.  His replacement was a lab and ended up being really good for pheasants.  :dunno:  Retrieved good but didn't come close to the bar already set.
