Nikon M-223
« on: March 02, 2012, 12:01:16 AM »
Ive been looking at putting the Nikon M-223 (3-12x42SF with BDC 600 Reticle)  on my AR.  It will be mostly for hunting coyotes.  I've read reviews online and it sounds like a pretty solid scope. Anybody got one or know anything about it personally?

Looking into the M-223 myself with the nikoplex reticle. Seen great reveiws and videos with lots of pro's. I'll be putting it on a fixed carry handle. I seen or read a couple cons that it won't work on fixed handles don't know why. Maybe the front sight who knows. I'll check with nikon first but I don't see a problem  ;)

i would stick to the nikoplex reticle myself. it has turrets to dial up for the long range shots. i had a coyote sspecial with the BDC and while it was pretty accurate i didnt like all the circles. PERSONALLY i dont see the need for both BDC and turrets. Had an M-223 on my AR with the nikoplex and liked it way more than the cyote special and it was just as if not more accurate for me. the only bad side to the M-223 is the turrets dont lock and some guys have problems with the turrets spinning while they travel from place to place with the rifle slung. not sure if nikon has fixed that issue yet. just my .02

& they come with free rings for mounting to the AR platform right now

I'm with Brownie, I have owned the Nikon BDC reticle & sold it off because of all the 'doughnut' distraction. I've used the pretty cool website they have to get all the ballistic data correct for the BDC which is nice but I just never got used to that reticle. Went back to the 4-16x42 Monarch with mildot.

I went with the nitroplex 3-12-42 not a big fan of the dots or donuts. It would be to distracting.
