I love blued guns with wood stocks, but living on the wet side of the state has had me fighting rust and pitting spots over the years.  I would go stainless for a hard hunting rifle and blued for a range gun.  Think of it as a tool.  Do you want it to rust?  East side of the state may be a different story.

Thanks for the replies. I am fairly new to the hunting activities. I have hunted in the past but, I am a fisherman transplanted over to the NE and I want to do it right. I sure do like the look of blue with wood. I plan on ordering a gun within the next week or two. I guess common sense and practicality means more than sentimental. Stainless it will be.

I've carried around a blued Tikka for years in the NE corner without a spot of rust. :dunno:

As far as ordering one... I would want to see the wood first.   I ended up with one that had some really nice wood, but some others I've seen are just sort of plain.

To me, blued rifles with nice stocks should be classics.....a pre 64 or mauser. The tikka is as classic a a tupperware bowl full of halloween candy in the suburbs.....I vote stainless.

There's a "Tupperware Tikka" somewhere in this picture...

Thanks, but I must add, that's my friends buck/Tikka in the second pic...we hosted a "tupperware party" on the hill that year.  :)

Most everyone has already seen my other pics, so I figured I'd toss up a new one.

If you like the blued look better, buy it.  The eastern side of WA is pretty easy on rifles.  Wipe it down with a little rem oil from time to time and you'll be set.

I meant no offense miles, it just seems like putting fakers on Joe dirt.

No offense taken...  I actually got a good laugh and thought hmmm "tupperware tikka", kind of funny.    It's funny because my buddy (his gun/buck in the picture) calls it his "throw away" gun.  He said he's going to use it for a few years, then toss it if it gives him any problems.  :chuckle:  I don't mind them, and I actually like mine.  It's shoots good, kills bucks, and I could care less if if gets scratched/dinged up.
