Asian carp now in Minnesota:(
« on: March 02, 2012, 08:05:41 PM »
:bash: last thing we need is to get these up in the rivers up there. I have a feeling I might get hit by a flying carp this summer if they make it to the st. croix river. :bash: :bash:

Yes they are very very bad! They are trying to find a way to kill them out but nothing is working :bash:

I would like to find the SOB that let them go in the river to start the entire mess in the first place.  Those things will smoke our rivers soooo quick.

I've been seeing them in the Swampmen.   In fact one of them got smacked in the nads at about 30 mph the other night by a 20 pounder.    OUCH!

A lot of areas they were released by farmers by recommendation of state extension agencies.  The farmers used irrigation canals to get water to crops and prevent fields from flooding.  The canals would get clogged up by aquatic weeds.  The carp was released to eat the weeds so the water could flow freely.

What you doing on the St. Croix?  Sturgeon fishing.  I spent many a summer along the St Croix.  Grand parents lived there on the MN side in between Danbury, WI and Hinckley, MN.

Go back there for 2-4 weeks a summer and fish.  My uncle co-owns marine landing in marine on the st.croix, mn.  He brought that back to a hopping place now.
I would have to say there are a lot of nice fish in there..
I love fishing back home.  I grew up in north east MN.  Go back to bow hunt on some family land up north.  Good luck.

HaHa that one was funny as hell. It was willies brother if I remember right. One of the few shows I record and watch all of them. the one thing I hate! is that every dang alligator on that show weighs 700lbs :chuckle: They sure like to juice up the weights for tv. They kill some monsters but when they drag a little 8ft on the boat and the announcer says its a big 700lber I have to laugh.

Me being the bowfishing freak I am, I will tangle with them one day

I saw some epidode....not sure what series it was, maybe monsterfish......where a guy bowfished and shot them out of the air when they leaped.    That was impressive as hell.

Yes it was Willies brother.    I hate some of the new idiots they are introducing to the show.   I have nothing but the utmost respect for Willie.   He is all that for probably weighing 100 pounds himslef.  He must have hands of IRON.

Did you see the one where he knifed it in the head in the brush because he didn't have a gun.   Nads of steel and hands of iron

Troy is my favorite though....he's bat*censored* crazy (jumping the levee) but kinda the perfect image of Cajun.  I just miss that they put Liz in her own boat.... nothing like Troy shouting 'shoooot Lizabeth!  SHOOT IT!"

Yeah I like Liz and troy and Willie. If the whole show was on them it would make me happy. Don't like the others much. Pretty cool show, I would love to do it someday and plan to at least shoot one gator in my life.

I liked the one a couple years ago were Bruce drew up a sketch and started building a custom to order boat! His skill was impressive.
