I shot one and thought I had more than enough gun in the 7mm Rem mag,if I were to do it again(which I never will, once was more than enough) I would be aquiring a .338 win mag.I can't even imagine shooting one with a bow, your in for a rodeo I do know that much.Your heart will jump through your throat when the thing runs to the edge and commits suicide by vertical drop,Be prepared for a jumper.

Bow,

When I got all giddy about it,I enlisted the help of two local goat guys, both had killed a bunch of them, this was in the days before the once and done draw if you killed something, well between the two of them they had lost 3 goats due to the jumper syndrome, they jump and land on a ledge that is inaccesible from above or below and you've got nothing, they tried for 3 days to get to one with all kinds of climbing gear and it was to no avail,I know another guy who had the same thing happen.Heck mine was a jumper with 3 in the boilerhouse and one in the ankle.

Don't worry Nimrod.  Not a lot of truly inaccessible ledges in that unit.  Especially when I can gain access to a 300 meter rope if need be to help you get it out!  We'll get your goat even if it jumps, I promise!

Which unit you got? I had the Ruth Creek and if I remember right after 20 years the other guys with the inaccessable jumpers  had Barometer.Mine jumped off the backside of american border peak.

Yeah, back side of American Border woudl be a real pain in the arse.  This unit isn't near as rugged and rocky.  I wish they'd open up that Ruth Creek hunt again, that'd be a blast!

I think Bearhunter is a bit distracted by trying to get his career as a huntographer kickstarted. :chuckle:
