Rubs

I have seen a million rubs and I love everyone of them. I never photograph them as they seem so boring on "film" This one had something for reference though........ Moose rub by the way.

If it would stop snowing then it might catch up.

I think its pretty cool idea to photo them, never thought of that before. I always got to go up and look at rubs, like the ones where the eyeguards rip craters in the tree, and just shred it.

I don't think this is a rub necessarily. Moose peel bark off trees to eat and when they do this they peel it and pull it in long strips which leads to some being very high. Typically rubs are closer to the ground. Judging by the size of the deer and how high this one is I think that is what this one might be. However you were there and I was not so i could be wrong.

It looked as if it was made in late fall. Certainly had grooves from tips and burrs and was inpregnated by hair. If you look close, you will note that its a two year rub post. First year may have been a whitetail and the moose decided to trump. Generally when they peel it also has different terminal ends up high we as you can tell on this one it has been rubbed. Obviously all conjecture.

Very interesting. Always nice to see rubs as usually means something with horns is in the area which makes a person keep an eye out a little more.
