Used to shoot them fairly regularly.  Then I learned to mount my own birds and haven't gotten a decent one since.  Prolly the hardest bird to get in full color in my opinion.

Shot a bunch in So. Cal. around the Salton Sea, great plumage down there.  They are pretty birds.  I think the hardest to get in breeding plumage is a Blue-winged Teal, never got one in six years of hunting in WI and haven't seen any to shoot duck hunting anywhere else I have hunted.

I thought this bird had good color for as early as I killed him.

I know!  lol  I called them and they 'corrected' it on their records, they said I would get a new certificate but that never happened.  Oh well better luck next time.

Thats awesome man, a banded spoonie has got to be about the rarest banded duck you can get. He has great plumage for being shot in october too!
