Need some learning....

Whats up with the scopes that have a yardage dial on the nose of the tube? Mostly seems to be on leupolds. Is it accurate, or is much like the ballistic plex type stuff thats a wag at best? Believe nikon has a similar style thats on the turret.
Just curious whats peoples experiences with it are.

Are you thinking of the parallax adjustment?

I saw one at Sportsman's Warehouse today. It was a Nikon. It had a twist on the nose with yardage on it. First one I had seen. Was curious too.

it's the parallax adjustment. Basically focusing the scope at the yardage you are shooting. (simple terms of course)

So really its the same as dialing the scope up on the magnification? Seems odd is thats the case.
Either way, thanks. I am used to the turrets, but never saw the like of a yardage dial.

It has nothing to do with power or trajectory, it is simply 'focus', clarity of image.

My NIkon Titanium has this, its is a 5.5X16.5, you use the end to clear up your objective target at a known range. OR as close as you can get to it.. Mine really makes it clear up when you use it.. mine in srom 25 yds to 1000.
