Bison
« on: March 04, 2012, 08:46:23 PM »
This might be a silly question and might have been asked, but I live in sw wa and am looking for a place to get a bison.  I have heard that there are some places in oregon to go, but not sure what the ranches are called.  I am not looking for a hunt by any means, I just really like buffalo meat and was wondering if anybody has obtained any in ranches in oregon and what the price might be for a cow or bull.  Thanks in advance.

Put in for the Alaskan Draws for Wild animals is one way that works- got lucky up there, and also my kid did too...  Wyoming has something also- not sure how it works.  There is a place in Canada- Alberta that has animals free ranging on an extremely large ranch that you can pay to kill for eats and we did one a couple years ago in Montana at Ted Turner's ranch for a meat Cow..  That trip was not a hunt by any means, but strictly a meat run of sorts that involved pulling a trigger...  The Cow was like 700 bucks..  Brought home about 300-350 lbs of boned Bison meat from an 800lb cow.  Yummy for sure..

Was the ranch outside of Alder, MT. I think he's got a couple bison ranches. :dunno: Wife's family has a reunion at a ranch that border's his ranch. They are an outfitter themselves but they have a deal with Ted about his bison.

Does the reservation next to Usk and Cusick sell them.   I ran into, well almost ran into literally one that got out from there I assume up CC road.   I didn't know it at the time, but I guess it was legal for me to kill.....still haven't confirmed that.
