otter fur hat
« on: March 05, 2012, 08:58:11 AM »
Just received my hat that I had Amanda with Harts Lake Trading post in Roy, WA. build for me. It is really nice, and fits perfectly. Great workmanship. I'd also sent her a couple of bobcat pelts which she made into headbands for my daughters. They love them. Last year we had a beaver hat made by usa foxx. It was nothing but a ripoff.

Thanks Machias, I should have sent in pics of my daughter's bobcat headbands too. They are beautiful. One nice thing going through Harts lake is you know they use your own pelts. The hat my girlfriend had made for me by usa foxx last year was made out of three different beaver. One piece could have been from my pelt that my girlfriend sent in. Plus it was too small. She's still pissed!

Mandy is one of the best in the country. She has been in the business for decades and has clients all over the world.

You should check out the full length bear fur coats she makes. Incredible.

If you don't mind me asking? How much did it cost for the hat to be made?

Here is an old article (84) with a pic of a bobcat jacket.
The article is very old and mentions that they tan hides, which they don't do anymore.

That article came from the Eatonville Dispatch.  We use the call it the Eatonville Discrace if your name was in there under the police activities.   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I had 3 hats made and bought some elk leather from them, didn't parce out the cost of the otter hat. I had the pelts tanned at Moyle Mink before I sent them over to Hart Lake Trading. I'd contact Amanda and tell her what you have in mind and she'll give you a firm quote. You can find them on the computer.
