plastic bags and hides

ive heard that plastic garbage bags is a no no for hides. what is everyone using when they put them in the freezer?

Plastic garbage bags, double or tripled up. But I usually dont have a hide in the freezer for long. (a few months max)

The problem with plastic bags is when you close them it doesnt let the heat out of the bag. You need to leave it open so that the hide will cool and freeze. Once it is frozen close the bag should be fine then.

I've got an upright freezer in the garage, so I empty out the bottom rack (or two) and line the bottom with 2-3 layers of plastic bags, or a good 2mil drop cloth...

Then I'll just throw the hide in the freezer for a day or two. No bags until after I know the whole thing is cooled.

Dunno if it's right or wrong (as I've only needed to do it twice)...but it works.
I left it better than I found it...did you?
I hunt animals because veggies are too easy to stalk.
