06 Late Tag Buck
« on: July 27, 2008, 08:57:26 PM »
I really like this Washington site and thought I would join.  First post so let me know if the pics work.  Anyway, it's that time of the year and I am starting to get the itch after seeing a lot nice bucks on this site and thought I would add one too.  I took this buck on a 06 late tag and almost forgot about my pics until my taxi called and was wondering how I wanted the ears done.  Enjoy, Hairy.

Muleyslyr - I did a little reseach and visited a few shops around Snohomish County and settled on Lifelike Taxidermy in Marysville.  His shop is spotless and has no smell.  He is a real nice guy and lets my son and I come over anytime to check out what he's working on while junior goes through all the horns and tells me which ones are bigger than mine. I was really amazed at his attention to detail and his work was impressive to say the least.  He is/was a little backed up but after seeing the finished product I was willing to wait.  He is working on it right now so I might have to run up and have a peek or maybe just wait for to see it complete.

Got my mount back last week, it took a while but I am very pleased with the work and at least I have something this season even though I was not successful this year yet   :bash:.  I love the color of the cape and the taxi put a septum in the nose so you can see blood vessels in there if your into looking into noses...

You can always tell a north central WA muley by his antler colors.  North Central WA muleys typically have the darker/reddish antlers due to what they are rubbing.  Southern muleys usually have lighter colored antlers due to rubbing on sage and what not.  This is most likely an obvious statement but before you ask what late tag he had take into account what late tags for muleys are offered, and also take into account the genetics of the buck and the country in the back ground.  Obviously a North Central muley migrating down to spread his seed.

Nice Buck!

How did I miss this thread.   :dunno:  What a great looking WA buck.  For my money, a WA mulie like this is the equivalent to a 190 Wyoming/Colorado buck.  Great mount too.
