In the areas I hunt they live to a ripe old age and die of natural causes.

I thought I read some where that they live for 10 years but I could be wrong.

I dunno.  Sometimes I try to expedite their deaths, though.  I can be pretty expedient but I'd guess that the deer drag their feet a bit when it comes to getting shot.

I believe they can live 20 to 30 years, but normally I think 15 is about max.

I shot a blacktail buck a couple years back in OR.  He was old and antlers definitely regressing.  Your required to submit teeth on this hunt and it came back aged at 6-1/2yrs.  He was listed in the top 10% age class for all buck teeth that were submitted.  I've talked to a couple bios in that region and they say a buck's typical life expectancy is 6-7yrs and does 9 to 11.

3 to 5 years when heavily hunted, 9 to 10 years "natural deaths" and up to 17 - 20 years in captivity.

The Googles, which my computer is equipped with, is excellent for finding this type of information.
