There's a young man with a bright future, that's far better than any "trophy gobbler" photo you could have ever posted up!  Here's to hoping your pics inpire more Hunting WA members to get involved with taking kids out to enjoy our sport.

I've taken a lot of those naps under a tree while out turkey hunting. Always seem to wake up with a swarm of ticks crawling on me. New can of spray is on top of my shopping list.

Not much is more satisfying than a nap under a tree on none's schedule but your own.  Ticks were still bundled up, plenty of snow on the ground where we were.

He had a good time, we got  to see bear tracks in the snow and one gobbler that came running by.  I'm hoping we can get out this year again.  Maybe next year he'll be packing a gun as well.

Were you camped at 29 pines? I had my son with me last year as well and saw another father son team out there. Mine took a nap and I flicked a few ticks off him while he slept....if he only knew.....he had one attached to his shoulder the first time he went out  :yike: we found it when we got home...he was NOT happy to have a hitch hiker! This year mine will be carrying his gun and he won't stop asking when we are leaving  Good luck to you and your boy this year.

Yep, that's where we camped.  It was tough hunting, had a guy and a kid come pushing up behind me and my little guy while I was working a tom opening day, blew him out of there.   :bash:  It was an interesting area to hunt but I was a bit limited on hiking distances.  I was supposed to be meeting someone who had potential access to private land but he ended up being a no-show.

Good luck this year, I will probably be trying somewhere else.  Or, I may go to Westport and catch a bunch of lings and rockfish to put more "meat" in the freezer.   :)
