Just picked it up, after shooting my brothers new XDM 5.25 9mm. I knew I had to have one, 9mm was what I told myself I was going too get. When it came down to it, I just had to have it in .45. I just get to fondle it the rest of the evening, I'll test drive it in the AM.

Thanks Carp, I'll have to work on the Tikka thing. Every time I do or read about one, even so much as see a picture of one, I start to dry heave and puke in my mouth. :chuckle: it may take a little time but I've got past worse. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Those XD-M's are sweet looking, way better than the normal XD, but I hate the grip safety. I cant stand that you cant rack the slide without depressing the grip safety. I shot a friends XD .40 and I couldnt stand it.

I'm a die hard 1911 guy but I just had to have the XD, it was a mental debate on another 1911 or the XD. due to the fact the cost of a XD is the majority of a quality 1911 purchase. I do like the Ambi Mag release on the XD.

I'm very rarely surprised when it comes to info on firearms, but I was not aware I could not work the slide without having the grip safety depressed until I just read your post. You're correct, slight movement to the rear but locked in battery unless the grip safety is depressed. >:(

I have always liked that feature myself. I don't like to rack the slide unless I have a strong grip on the gun.

You will have a tikka one of these days as well. They really are a good gun. If you look at the feedback 95/100 people who have them love them and the other 5 seem to like them but don't like the clip and the stock. Everything else is very well made just like sako. Great trigger, smooth bolt, all of them have shot very very well. If you don't like it and it does not shoot well. Send it back and they will make it right. Never head of anyone having to do that yet. I have the new one I bought a week ago sitting in the safe. Just put a scope on it last night and have to make up some more loads. Even though I already have some since I have several 7mm-08's

I really really want a 1911.  They are sexy as hell.  Really want one.  Sticking with Glock for now.  After trading/selling it twice before, I can tell you I will never be without a Glock 19 ever again.  I think my next purchase will be an AK-74

I have tried and tried to like the 1911's. When I have one in my hand I feel like it would make a great hammer! Good for pounding nails in! :chuckle: I have bought 2 and sold both within a month! Plus shot about 12 others. They are not for me!

Just for kicks I messed with the tuper ware holster that came with the XD, even with tension screw completely loose. It takes a act of congress to skin that handgun efficiently. :o  I'll order a Kaluban Cloak for it in the AM.

One other thing I noticed, if you stuff one in the pipe from a fully loaded mag and shake the gun, it's quiet and tight. If you then drop the mag with the one round out of the mag in the chamber. Top off the mag with one more round andnseat it back in the handgun so as to have a full mag and one in the pipe. If you then shake the handgun the mag internals/spring rattle like a freight trai. >:(

Ditto for me.  I have the XDm 3.8 in 9mm and it is accurate and fun to pound rounds with.

Did you try that with both mags? I tested that with both mine. You know how much I CAN'T STAND RATTLES!!! Mine both stay tight and don't make any noise :dunno:

I have never used that little crappy holster that came with it. I have a inside the pants holster and a serpa I use.

I tried it with the other two mags, two rattle and one is tight and quiet.

Weird. What bullet are you testing it with? I have noticed a lot of difference in mag space between the hollow points and the fmj's. A little more angle on the hollow points and it gives them a little more slack in there. The fmjs with there fuller profile seem to really fit tight. You put one in the pipe and then 16 in the mag "on my 40" boy is it tight!

The holster that comes with them sucks, though you make a very cool vehicle holster with that and the speed loader.
