I have hunted with a 3 finger Tru-ball tru back tension since I started hunting. It works very well and I have taken 6 animals with it. It will force you to take your time on the shot. I didnt have target panic but I liked the back tension way more than a trigger release. They arent too expensive. Get one and try it out. Just dont bloody your nose the first time you try it out!!

i never shot it for hunting, but i had a few scott longhorns that i would use for practice and some 3d shooting. i sold all them and use thumbs and index for everything now. i set my triggerd very heavy and squeeze increasing pressure until the shot breaks. with teh thumb i put the trigger on the pad at the base of my thumb. not a jerky punch with my thumb

One way to work on TP is to use a clock while aiming at the target, you can't shoot till after the alarm goes off. This makes you hold on a spot longer. Most of us shoot to fast, this makes us loose focus of the spot and forcing the shot to go off to soon.

I shot a t handle thumb release as well. If you practice you can shoot it like a back tension release. I do it some times when I am shooting at long ranges. Just keep your thumb down on the trigger and rotate your knuckles towards the ground without moving you thumb. It will shot just like a back tension release and suprise you a lot more. Also maybe lower your# that always really helps!!!

Get up close to your target like 3 yards, close your eyes and work on your release.
Steady pressure on the trigger and just before it breaks engage your back muscles. Suprise shot.
Once you get comfortable open your eyes at the same distance but don't necessarily aim at anything. Just get used to looking thru your pins.
Once your comfortable with that put up a 3 spot target and try to shoot a 300 at 5 yards, once you get it move to 10 then 15 and finally 20.
Don't cheat your self especially on the first two steps. Really make sure you are comfortable with these.
When your shooting for the 300 don't cheat yourself. If its not a 300 but its close, its still not a 300. start over.
You can shoot back tension with almost any release it dosent have to be a "back tension release".
I shoot a carter "like mike" and love it.

I was looking into one, too. I don't think I have target panic, but think it might improve my consistency. Thinking about the Scott Longhorn. Has a wrist strap. You pull the bow back with the wrist, then place the hand on the release (so unlikely to smack yourself in the face if you put the tension in the wrong spot pulling back the typical back tension releases. Mechanism looks more like a very long trigger with a long trigger pull, so there's no guessing when the thing will actually release.

Hope the new release works for you. It took me 3 years to get rid of my target panic
I now shoot a Carter 2 Shot. With practice you can shoot it back tension (suprise) release.
