buying from a pawn shop

hey evryone i was thinking about buying a new rifle from a pwn shop in twon, and wanted to know some experinces you guys have had bying rifles from pawn shops. thanks

I would make sure you see what the book value of the gun is then check the rifling, etc to make sure the gun is in good shape.

What gun/caliber is it? New or used?

thers is two ther both 7mm ones a rem 700 and the others a savage i forgot to look at what model. they are asking 399 for the rem and 289 for the savage witha scope.

I have never had a big problem with new or used guns from a pawn shop as long as they had a good gun section. I did buy a Trap gun once that was stolen and pawned; I did not find out until two years after I purchased it. The police and the shop called me and asked to bring it back; both were very good to me and I got a full refund.

I would really stay away from a savage  The scope must be garbage as well if its $299, but it depends what your looking for. Cheap throw away gun or something nice that will last. Check out seattleguns.net, kind of idiots to deal with about prices, but occasionally you can find a decent deal

Whats wrong with savage? It really comes down to the pawn shop and the deal. I ran into a few that the guys working the store were jerks and appeared to be the owners and they had crazy high prices. Right next door is a tiny shop and the guy treats everyone great, tries to strike up conversation and is willing to play a bit. He also knows more about everything in his shop than I would normally think would be standard.

For me, if I wouldn't send my wife in there to buy a gift for me, I won't shop there. I'm very loyal when I find a place I like and I'm usually willing to pay a bit more for that customer service too.

the pawn shop that has the guns s the cleaniest and most organize pawn shop ive ever been in. also everytime i go in there they also are nice compared to the other shops. so do you all think its pretty safe that they what they have is pretty good

Its ok to buy a used rifle with a scope on it, but you're not going to find a Zeiss scope on it. In your h haggling don't let them talk it up as a complete package but rather explain that you know that the attached Simmons 4x glass isnt worth $10 to you. Its going to come off anyway and just offer to let 'em keep it.

i bought the remm 700 for 375 with tax. went out and shot it. and it is a ery smooth gun. doesnt even kick very bad i could shoot it all day best gun ive bought so far

always do your research before paying for a gun.

another thing to keep in mind is that the pawn shop probably invested all of $50 for that set up. so don't give them any money without some good haggling first.
